[slides in/singing rug]
Hey beardlovers. Ready to watch another video? [Camera shakes back and forth from left to right] No? You're not? [Camera nods] Yes you are. [Camera shakes from left to right] No you're not. [Camera nods] Okay. Yes, you're not ready. Hmm. Why? Too busy? [Camera shakes from left to right] Hmm. Sleepy? [Camera shakes from left to right] [gasps] You're pregnant! Alright, that's personal. You hate videos. [Camera shakes from left to right] Hmm. I'm actually just moving the camera with my hand and you're not actually here? [Camera nods] Ahh, good. I was worried you disliked my videos. [Camera nods again.] What?
[Wheezy Waiter beard intro]
[shows comment from gombost:] I miss the others from DPC.
Ahh. By DPC, you're referring to my band Driftless Pony Club. Funny you should mention that, gombost. And might I say that you are the gombostingest. We're actually going into the studio for the next four days to record a new album, and I actually have to get going right now. You guys wanna see what happens in the studio? Yay! [The camera shakes from left to right. Craig raises his hands.] Okay, seriously, I'm not touching that.
[In the studio. Text onscreen: Phantom Manor. Mike is at the computer.]
So here I am in the studio. [Text appears onscreen: 2 Days Later. Craig looks at it.] Yeah, it may be two days later.
[shows comment from Trondure808] Wheezy, you promised 4 videos a week (at least). So far there has only been 3!
Well, it's Saturday. [Text onscreen: You're hearing mixing going on in here (and an arrow points to doorway behind him.)] So this is the fourth one. I meant to put it up sooner but we've been working hard making a new album. It's not like we've been having a Mexican-themed party the past two days. [Matt walks in from the other room. He's wearing a sombrero on his head.] [Craig sighs.] Matt, you're really hurting my argument.
[Matt:] Lo siento. [He leaves.]
This is why I made those goals. If I didn't, I'd likely not have made a video this weekend. And you wouldn't get to see what it's like to record an album. This is what it's like to record an album.
[Shot of them playing together] What we do is we rock out with the camera at this angle. [Another angle] Also over here. [And another angle] Low down in the evening. When it's pointed at the ALF doll here. [pointed at ALF doll] And here. [From slightly further away.] Late night here. And here. Look at the horsey! [Text onscreen: HORSEY! An arrow points to a painting of a horse.]
And then later when sound magician Mike casts his audio incantations... [Mike at computer.] We read and pick our beards. [Matt reading and twisting his beard.]
Now let's ask some of our favorite musicians what they think. First, I asked Driftless Pony Club drummer Nate Bartley what it's like to record a rock album.
[Craig:] So, Nate, what's it like to record a rock album?
[Nate drums as he talks. The drumming drowns out his words. Craig nods.]
He made me see it in ways I never thought before.
Then I asked guitarist/keyboardist Matt Weber.
[Matt, wearing the sombrero, leans towards camera:] You know, whenever I go in to record with people, they always tell me it's gonna be super hard. And I'm always like, No, it's super easy! And then when we're done recording, I'm like, See? That's Spanish for yes, because it is a lot of hard work. [leans back]
So that's what it's like to record a rock album. [Sam enters from the other room.]
[Sam:] Hey Craig. Craig, focus on me. Rack focus. Come on. Over here.
[Text onscreen: Again, you're hearing mixing going on in here (arrow points to doorway.)]
[Craig:] Okay. What are you gonna... [Craig focuses on Sam]
[Sam:] Rack focus.
[Craig:] Yeah, we're... we're focused.
[Sam:] Recording is awesome! [Sam throws his fist in the air and jumps. When he lands, he stays in the same fist-in-the-air position.]
[Craig:] Am I... Was I supposed to freeze frame?
[Sam, still frozen in that position:] I'm just thinking real hard.
[Craig, looks at him and back to camera, bewildered.] Okay. [Craig focuses camera back on himself. Sam stays frozen in the background, fist in the air.] We're done here.
[Wheezy Waiter dominos outro]
At the time of recording this, I didn't have the internet to download a wink, so... [winks (ding)]
[Matt, still wearing the sombrero, rubs his shoe. Starts to take off sombrero:] El sombrero es muy caliente. [As he takes it off, he notices a sock in the sombrero.] Qual es?
[Craig:] Hahahaha! Rawk sawk! [Makes a rock sign to camera as Rawk Sawk title appears onscreen.]
[Matt:] No bueno. No bueno at all.
[Sam, in the empty room, stays frozen in his fist-in-the-air post-jump position. After seven or eight seconds, we can hear Craig.]
[Craig:] Hey, Sam, we're leaving.
[Sam doesn't move:] Just let me think!
